Human waste dumping in the Buriganga river in Dhaka, Bangladesh
Many of the industries especially fabrics dyeing and printing and tannery continue polluting rivers, canals and other wetlands in the city Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is estimated 7,000 industries of red, orange, and green categories around Dhaka metropolis discharging more than 61 percent waste directly into Turag river, Balu river, Buriganga river, Shitalakhya river,and Bangshai river.
The pollution level is so severe that no aquatic can survive in these rivers during a joint study conducted by Institute of water modelling will the help of World Bank.
