Hazardous waste water in the Shitalakya river, Narayanginj, Bangladesh

Children play amongst hazardous waste in Sitalakkya river, Narayangong, Bangladesh. The exposed pipes emit waste from textile dyeing factories during the dry season. The picture was taken near Kanchpur Bridge in Narayangonj. According to the World Bank study. The prinary estimates made in the study show that nearly 3,30,000 kilograms is discharge from various polluting sources everyday in Dhaka watershed. This gives an indication of the extensive pollution loads from various domestic and Industrial sources. The situation is extremely precarious particularly during the six month of the year November to April the report states.
