Buriganga river leased out in Dhaka, Bangladesh

In Buriganga river, Dhaka, Bangladesh the continuous earth filling near fatullah terminal pontoon in Narayangonj for sand trading stretches far into Buriganga river, changing the channel. The Narayangonj district administration had anomalously leased out a half-acre area of the Buriganga river to a individual at Fatullah, Dhaka, Bangladesh leading to massive earth filling in the river. Sand trading is now going on there in full swing. The land well into the river foreshore was handed over to one Alauddin for Taka 7.13 hunded thousand in 1994.

Gulshan-Banani lake filling up in Dhaka, Bangladesh

A group of Influential people have started encroaching up on the Gulshan-Baridhara-Banai lake filling of the lake at Shahajadpur jheelpar, between Mariam Tower and Gulshan shahajadpur link road has been going on for last two month in violation of the Wetland conservation Act,2000. The lake is identified a lake in the Dhaka Metropolitan Development plan (DMDP) and layout of the lake is in accordance with Wetland Conservation Act, so, filling of the lake illegal.
